While Ellis knew he would forever be the love of Nick’s life, the younger male could tell that, ever since Nick laid eyes on their daughter, she WAS his life.
And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Finally finished this commission of Nick from Left 4 Dead 2 as the Sniper from Team Fortress 2.
Too tired to upload it everywhere right now, so you’ll have to settle just for the tumblr version right now. Don’t worry, I’ll upload the full version to dA soon.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this one, and I can’t wait to work on the next one (him as the Medic). I’ll get to do more lighting experiments with that one, lol.
((Finally finished this one and I’m pretty proud of it, so here ya go!))
((Alright, well I don’t want you making any enemies tonight, babe! xD Just forget about it and relaaax~ You shouldn’t be stressing out so much about this, there’s more important stuff to worry about! -hugs!-))
((I have so many enemies in the fandom already for stupid shit, why even care anymore? Especially since I’m not even active in it anymore? That’s how I’m thinking right now. And maybe it’s dangerous, but I can’t get myself to care enough at the moment.))
((It’s a word. Yes, a word describing a bush. But in my opinion, it is also an effect to further exaggerate a southern accent. I tried ‘you’ for a very long time, if you hadn’t noticed, and I just didn’t like it. I was forcing it, and I didn’t want to force myself to write something I don’t wanna…
((Never said THAT by itself ruined the fandom for me, it’s a MULTITUDE of attitudes and things people do that did. That’s just one thing in a huge fucked up ball of shitty things people would do in this fandom. Sorry that several bad apples and attitudes had to ruin it all, and, no, obviously not everyone in the fandom is bad, but the fandom is general just feels…corrupt…and immature.
Sorry, and I love you guys, but that’s just how I feel right now. It’s been a long day and maybe I just can’t deal right now.))
Fuck ‘yew’ guys.
((FUCK YEW TOO GIRL 8D))
((I love you enough to overlook you….just don’t bring it into our personal RPs. You know how much it bothers me.))((That’s why I never do it with you, darlin xD I try to respect you within our own roleplays~ I just wanna be able to do it here, so I shall. xD))
((It’s not like I’m trying to make anyone conform, it just seriously bothers me and I have to make it known sometimes because I just have had enough right now. I look over it and look over it and eventually I can’t take it anymore. Part of me misses this fandom and the fun I had in it and then things like this happen and I remember why I moved on in the first place. There are some amazing people here in L4D fandom, and I love my followers and their support, but there’s too many people who ruin it for it to even be fun anymore. And people who want to butcher the accent I grew up with and finally accepted and began to love later in life and then tell me I’m wrong to think the way I do about it really bothers me. I’m sorry, guys, I mean that, but fuck the people who ruin what this fandom could be. Not even just in this area, but all over. So much god damn shit is in this fandom, I swear. I want to love it again, but you can only take so much, guys.))
Fuck ‘yew’ guys.
((FUCK YEW TOO GIRL 8D))
((I love you enough to overlook you….just don’t bring it into our personal RPs. You know how much it bothers me.))
Fuck ‘yew’ guys.
askthegoddamnnick replied to your post: So someone else brought this up and I wanted to ask you: why do you exaggerate you as “yew”?((Awww, shit. Someone got mad. Personally, I’m Georgian, and I find using ‘yew’ to be a bit offensive, really. It makes him look and sound stupid. You…
I honestly can’t see him as truly ‘stupid.’ And saying that bit at the end made it sound as if you think those who believe in such things are stupid/ignorant. He comes from Savannah, Georgia. Do you know how haunted that place is? And going from ghosts to werewolves and such isn’t really that far of a stretch. Hell, I graduated third in my class and I believe in a ton of those things. Does that make me ignorant? No.
If you want to elongate your ‘oo’ you can easily actually change the word of ‘you’ to elongate it instead of changing it to another word entirely that implies he could be talking about a freakin’ bush.
Or, of course, you could just leave the ‘you’ alone as that word itself can be pronounced in so many different ways that it speaks for itself. Now, taking out some letters to imply the accent and using grammatical ways of showing the accent without making it look like a ton of spelling errors is a much better and organized ‘mess’ of a way to write it.
I tell strangers about my kinks and strange stuff I do. Does that make me stupid? No. It just means I’ll talk more openly than others. Would I tell strangers my social security number? NO. That, my friend, is ignorance/stupidity. But talking about peeing/cumming into water balloons is not. It’s simply having a good time.
It’s not a ‘bullshit elitist attitude type.’ You want that? Go to LiveJournal, you’ll get it BAD there. I’m ranting about one thing written differently in the accent that I honestly find annoying and almost jarring when I try to read it. I honestly can not read that and enjoy what’s being read because all I can think is ‘A YEW IS A BUSH. YOU ARE TRYING TOO HARD TO MAKE THIS SOUND SOUTHERN AND BUTCHERING IT.’ That seriously is all I can think. Fine, think of it as elitist if you wish, but it seriously makes Ellis and all other Southern characters sound stupid as hell.
I’m not saying to not write the accent at all. Where’s the fun in that? I’m just saying write it in a way that doesn’t dumb down the character. I’ve seen him represented as an idiot so many times before and even Valve themselves say Ellis is really intelligent.
And you think typing ‘yew’ is non-conforming? In all actuality, I feel that it’s the opposite. So many people in this fandom write it that way and it’s primarily in THIS fandom. I never had to deal with this stupid representation of the accent in any other fandom thus far, and so seeing it done this way feels like a stupid trend to me. I’m sorry if you think you’re being the ‘cool kid’ here by doing what you think is going against the grain, but you’re just conforming to the rest of the fandom. And it looks stupid.
I never truly asked you to conform, I raged about it on my blog, saw a rant on your blog, and felt it was a response to what I said, so I responded back. Now, we know now it’s not that, but now we’ve gotten into a truly detailed discussion here and I honestly love a good debate about these subjects, so here’s my end.
I can say that since I’m Georgian I know this accent pretty damn well. And I could rant about so many things people do to butcher it. I honestly am passionate about this accent cuz I’ve both loved and hated so many people who speak it. I grew up with it. I still live with it. Hell, I got made fun of for not having ENOUGH of an accent sometimes. Do I think my way of writing it is smarter than yours? Perhaps not smarter, but more experienced is all. I just know the accent inside and out and know what irks me and others from Georgia when people try to write it or imitate it. I’ve known a few of my nearby friends who read L4D fandom stuff and just shake their heads at the way this fandom writes Ellis/Keith/etc. It’s just…ridiculous, honestly.
And don’t get me started on how people write Savannah. It’s not as bad as before, but god damn.
And I could honestly even sit here and give you an entire rant on the use of ‘ya’ll’ as compared to ‘y’all’ and which regions of Georgia use it as a word for one person or just as a word for multiple people, but I’m merely speaking of just one word that bothers me the most out of all the trendy ways of showing this accent, and that is ‘yew.’ While other things may bother me, I can overlook them, but that one is just so. God damn. Annoying. Oh my god.
There, see that rant how you wish.
In before people unfollow me.
((Wonder how many followers I’d lose….))

((Okay, I think I’ll stop spamming you guys with stupid shit now and go play TF2))
